Mipounet

From Spain to the world, Mipounet is redefining premium childrenswear with a conscious, artistic, and globally minded approach. Founded in 2018 by Inma Cano and Yoann López, the brand has created a universe where creativity, sustainability, and timeless design intersect with an international vision. Now present in over 25 countries and fresh from a pop-up at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, we sat down with the founders to discuss building a global brand, their sources of creative inspiration, and what’s next.

KINDA: Mipounet was born with a very clear identity. How did the idea come about?

............ Inma: »Mipounet was born in 2018 as a very personal project. We wanted to create a premium childrenswear brand that combined design, creativity and conscious values — but also with an international vision from the very beginning. We came from the world of luxury fashion and design, and we spotted the opportunity to bring that language to childrenswear: carefully crafted, timeless collections, made responsibly.
Mipounet was born digital and oriented towards a global audience. Today we are present in more than 25 countries and our collections are sold through our own e-commerce as well as in concept stores and international platforms.«

KINDA: Inma, before Mipounet, you worked at Marni, Valentino, Moschino, and Etro - an impressive career in international luxury. What did you bring to Mipounet from that experience?

............ Inma: »I learned that luxury is not about price — it’s about attention. Attention to detail, to the fabric, to the way each piece is presented, and to the overall shopping experience. At Etro, I launched the e-commerce and digital strategy, and realized that the future of luxury would be digital before it was physical. That’s exactly the approach we built with Mipounet.

KINDA: What made you decide to relocate to Valencia, and how has it influenced the brand?

............ Inma: »Returning to Valencia felt completely natural. We wanted to reconnect with a slower, more family-oriented pace of life. The climate, the light, and the Mediterranean atmosphere deeply influence the way we create. We work in an environment that encourages enjoying small moments — and that ethos is reflected in collections that feel warmer, more luminous, and serene.«

The creative process — where each piece begins

KINDA: Your philosophy emphasizes slow fashion. How does that shape your collections?

............ Inma: »Sustainability isn’t just a label for us — it’s a core principle. We produce exclusively in certified workshops in Spain and Portugal, use sustainable dyes, and design our prints in-house. Limited production allows us to embrace slow fashion, creating garments meant to be passed down between siblings and last for generations. For us, sustainability means caring for every step of the process — from design to delivery.«

KINDA: How does a Mipounet collection come to life? What happens first?

............ Inma: »It always starts with an image, an emotion, an idea. It might be a painting, a film, a trip, a material we come across. In Milan we learned to work with mannequins, to build shapes from a place of inspiration. It’s almost like sculpting. From there comes the colour palette, which we study very carefully, and from that point everything unfolds piece by piece.«

KINDA: What inspires you when creating a new collection?

............ Inma: »I draw inspiration from everyday life — from light, travel, and the world around us, as well as from trends in adult fashion. Coming from the luxury sector, where every collection tells a story, we’ve brought that same storytelling approach into childrenswear, while staying true to the brand’s DNA. Luxury is also about the creative process — there’s thoughtful work behind every single piece.«

KINDA: You describe your style as warm Mediterranean minimalism. How would you define it?

............ Inma: »It’s a minimalism that isn’t cold — it’s emotional. We love clean, simple lines, always paired with soft tones, natural fabrics, and details that bring warmth. It’s a calm, understated aesthetic inspired by the Mediterranean, where simplicity coexists with sensitivity.«

KINDA:  Do you believe that wearing something beautiful affects how we feel?

............ Inma: »I do. Aesthetics have an emotional impact, even for children. Wearing a thoughtfully made garment, with pleasant fabrics and special details, creates a sense of wellbeing. Making beautiful things is a way of bringing sensitivity and emotion into everyday life.«

KINDA:  Your lifestyle includes yoga, sports, cooking and music. Do these influence your creativity?

............ Inma: »Yes. They help me find balance. Yoga and sports bring calm and clarity, which is reflected in more serene designs. Cooking connects to creativity and craftsmanship, similar to the way we work in fashion. And music is always present, shaping the atmosphere and quietly inspiring new ideas.«

KINDA:  Your upcoming winter collection is inspired by sport. How did that come about?

............ Inma: »Sport is a natural part of our lifestyle, and we wanted to bring those values into the collection: movement, comfort, and freedom. We drew inspiration from outdoor activities and the idea that children need functional garments — without compromising the thoughtful aesthetic that defines our brand.«
